Liability of Foreignness

Liability of Foreignness is the inherent disadvantage that foreign companies experience in host countries because of their non-native status. As a foreign company operating in another country, dealing with the differences in regulation, language, culture and norms result in extra challenges that local companies from the host country do not have. This leads to additional costs and a competitive disadvantage that needs to be overcome.
